Bradenton, Florida - Roy Richard Collins passed away on February 22, 2024 at the age of 95 in Bradenton, Florida. Known as Dick, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 72 years Carol, and son, Peter [Cindy]. Dick is survived by his son, Willard [Christine], and daughter, Cathleen, along with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dick was born in Washington D.C. on April 2, 1928. He attended Pennington Prep School in New Jersey and after graduation served in the Marine Corps. After completion of service with an Honorable Discharge he attended Rutgers University in New Jersey.

He was ultimately employed as a civilian computer analyst for the U.S. Army, based in the Pentagon in Washington D.C. In 1964 he was transferred to the US Army base in Orleans, France as a computer systems specialist, and he and Carol enjoyed eight years in France and several locations in Germany, and taking advantage of many travel destinations throughout Europe. Upon completion of his tours in Europe he was transferred to the Presidio in San Francisco, California, and ultimately Atlanta, Georgia, where he would retire.

Retirement brought Dick and Carol to their familiar retreat in Bradenton, Florida, where Dick continued his love of tennis and music, both working many years as a Certified USTA tennis official and singing in the choir at Roser Church on Anna Maria Island. Dick will be interred as a proud veteran at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida.
