December 30, 1934 - September 11, 2023
Bradenton, Florida - Phyllis C. Virzi born December 30, 1934, left this life on September 11, 2023 to be with her beloved husband Gerardo in eternity. Her children, Maria Battista, Jerry Virzi and Tom Virzi, their spouses Steve Weiman, Sharlene Virzi and Kristen Faust, and her grandson Quentin Bajnath will miss her and carry on her memory.
Phyllis grew up in a large Italian family in Newark, New Jersey. Her surviving siblings are Donald Collura, James Collura, and sister Ceil Scalanga. She was preceded in death by her sisters Lucille Morris and Peg Eisenberg, and her brother Joseph Collura. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, in-laws, and cherished friends.
She always said "Friends are the gifts I give myself." An avid reader, Phyllis loved organizing the library in her condo community and volunteered her time to political and charitable causes.
She was a member of the Democratic Women's Club in Bradenton and an advocate for acceptance and compassion for all people. She was a patriot in the best, service-oriented sense of the term. An artist with a keen talent for design and a knowledgeable gardener, she delighted her guests with exquisite hospitality, especially on holidays.
She was described as "the best neighbor we ever had" and "feisty" in the face of injustice. She welcomed ALL in peace and devotion to her family and community. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
