Her professional life included a fulfilling career as a retired Unit Secretary, where she was as much a part of the healing process as the doctors and nurses she worked with.
But Mary Ann's true vocation was that of a matriarch. Her family was her masterpiece, a living tapestry of love that included her late husband, Richard Stuart Allan, a respected New York State Trooper; her sons, Richard, Gary with his wife Connie, Jeff and honorary daughter Debbie, and Kenneth with his wife Penny; and her daughter, Elizabeth Allan Chaires, with Jerry. Mary Ann was a guiding light for her grandchildren: Heather with Eduardo, Stuart with Andrea, Holly, Jeffery, Jessica with Long, Elizabeth with Rich, Tiffany, Kimberly, Scott with Carissa, Casey, Jacob with Ashley, Lucas with Angelica, and Anthony. Her legacy continued to blossom with her nieces, Nicole Bennett with Jake and Lou Ann Mages with Al, and her grandniece and honorary granddaughter, Amelia Bennett. The family tree stood strong and vibrant, nurtured by Mary Ann's love and further enriched by 23 great-grandchildren.
Mary Ann filled her home with the scent of home-cooked meals and the beauty of her beloved orchids. She was a connoisseur of the simple pleasures in life, from the joy of feeding birds to the delight of a perfectly ripe banana.
