Bradenton, Florida - Lola B. Robbins, age 90, of Bradenton, died peacefully at Tidwell Hospice on Thursday, December 14. She was born in McMinnville, Tennessee in 1933. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jack H. Robbins, who died 7 years ago.
She entered nursing school in Tennessee after high school and immediately joined the Air Force as a nurse. She met Jack when she was stationed in Florida and they were married in 1955. They were stationed in several locations, including England, San Antonio, Texas and on Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. They had 3 children together and retired from the military in 1973, moving to Bradenton.
While her husband pursued a private practice in radiology, she pursued her passion of gardening and horticulture. She took numerous courses at the community college and eventually opened her own flower shop featuring her favorite flower, the African violet.
After her husband retired from medicine, the couple traveled extensively all over the world, a passion they shared together. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her 3 children: Jack Robbins, Jr, Timothy Robbins of Bradenton and Theresa Rotolo of Orlando, as well as her 2 grandchildren.
Visitation 5-7pm Wednesday, December 20th at Brown & Sons Funeral Home, 43rd Street Chapel. Funeral mass 11am Thursday, December 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1220 15th St. W., Bradenton.
