June Brown

June Hennings Brown, lovingly known as Mama June, Junie, June Bug, passed away on December 23, 2023, in Bradenton, FL, at the age of 85. She was born on February 28, 1938, in Tarrytown, NY, to the late John and Natelie Hennings. June was a caring mother, friend, and lover of pets. She was a kind soul who always had a smile on her face and valued relationships above all else.

June built lifelong friendships in Carollton, GA, Bluefield, WV, and Lexington, SC. She relocated to Bradenton, FL, in 2017. For the last five years of her life, she was fortunate to have a wonderful caregiver and friend in Kelly Karpel and a steadfast furry companion in Sherlock.

June leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brother, John Hennings who passed away in 2017.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ashley Brown and Jim Templeton, her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Dyanna Brown, and her son, Kevin Brown. June is also survived by her sister-in-law, Evelyn Hennings, and nephews, Mr. and Mrs. John Hennings and Mr. and Mrs. Rick Hennings. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Brittany Brown, Bowen Brown, Carter Brown, Lilly Grace Brown, Ryli and Hunter McQuary, their daughters Arden and Rowan and Rett and Samantha Brown, and their daughters, Gracie Reed, and Ella Jo.

June was a lifelong entrepreneur who was involved in the furniture and interior design industry. She participated in building and operating several businesses including Miscellany in Atlanta, McQuail's Furniture in Bluefield and Burton-Brown Interiors in Irmo, SC. Her creativity and passion for design were evident in her work and home.

June worshiped at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Carrollton, GA, Christ Episcopal Church in Bluefield, WV, and St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Lexington. Her faith was always important to her and provided her with strength and guidance.

In her free time, June enjoyed playing tennis, reading, entertaining friends and family and had a lifelong love of dogs. She found joy in the company of her furry friends and cherished their companionship.

A Celebration of Life to honor June's memory will be announced at a future date. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Women's Resource Center where a fund has been established in her honor: MYWRC.ORG. There will be a place to indicate that you are donating in honor/memory of June.
