Gregory Bert Ryder, known to just about everyone as Greg, passed away on May 17, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida, following a motorcycle accident. Born on November 21, 1967, in Covington, Kentucky, Greg packed a whole lot of life, laughter and love into his 57 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Bert Ryder; his mother, Joy Ann Brockhoeft Ryder; his brother, Ted Wallace Ryder; and his nephew, Sawyer Braden Webb.
Greg was the kind of guy who always had something going on-he wasn't one to sit still. Whether he was out on the water, working on a project in the garage or making his grandkids laugh, he brought a sense of energy and fun to everything he did. He had a real talent for taking things apart just to see how they worked-and usually putting them back together better than before. If it had wires, gears, or a motor, Greg was your guy. Greg had that rare ability to make anyone feel like an old friend. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand-whether it was fixing a neighbor's bike, giving advice or just showing up when someone needed him. He had a quick wit, an easygoing nature and a way of making things feel a little less heavy, even on hard days. Some of Greg's favorite moments were spent boating, camping and just enjoying the quiet beauty of the outdoors with a beer in hand. Whether he was cruising on the water, setting up camp or sitting around a fire with good company, he found peace in nature and joy in the simple things.
Greg's legacy lives on through his children, Natalie McMeekin (Josh) and Caddie Ryder (Aaron Young), and his beloved grandchildren, Izabel, Cole, Uriah, Keira and Ryker, who brought him endless pride and joy. He was the kind of grandpa who got on the floor to play, ran around and shared his love of nature-always making memories that mattered. He is also survived by two brothers: Todd Ryder (Belinda), Shawn Ryder (Patti Bednarski) and four sisters: Diane Young (Terry), Kristina Shope, Tracy Bradshaw (Alan), and Michelle Garcia and many nieces and nephews.
As we say goodbye, we hold tight to the laughter, the lessons and the love he shared so freely. Greg leaves behind a family who adored him and a lifetime of memories that will keep his spirit close. He'll be missed more than words can say. Here's to Greg-the tinkerer, the helper, the father, the friend. May he rest easy, knowing he made this world a funnier and more interesting place.
