Gladys Rosado, 65, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on February 23, 2024. She was born on June 19,1958, to Rosa and Maximo Rosado. She was the youngest of five children.
Gladys attended James Monroe High in Bronx, New York and South Hampton College. After graduating college, she joined the United States Peace Corps. She served two years (1981-1983) in Ecuador working and teaching with the deaf community. After return from The Peace Corps, she taught for the New York City Public Schools System for over 30 years. She was a special education teacher at the Occupation Training Center and The School of Home Instruction.
Gladys was a friend of Billy W for over 25 years. The principles of recovery guided the remainder of her life, love and service.
Gladys married the love of her life, Steve, in 2004. That began a new chapter for both of them. Always looking for adventures, Gladys and Steve traveled to all 50 states and 100 countries. They volunteered as park rangers for five years at Glacier National Park. Both belonged to Caring Clowns, a group that visits hospital and nursing homes in Connecticut and Florida.
She is preceded into heaven by her parents, Rosa and Maximo and her brothers, Max, Richie, and Hector. Gladys is survived by her brother, Willie and wife Miriam, also her beloved niece and nephews and their spouses, Desiree and Brian, Mace and Melissa, Richie Jr. and Alba, Danny and Monica, TJ and Janeen, AJ and Rachel, Randy and Casey. As well as her many great nieces and nephews and her dear friends, Errol and Emma Rivera.
She is remembered and loved by the extended Rosado and Naughton families.
A Memorial Mass will be held 9:30 AM, Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Saints Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church, 2850 75th St W, Bradenton, FL 34209. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street West, Bradenton, FL, 34207, is in charge of arrangements.
