Dr. Samuel Jon LaMonte, surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2023, as a result of complications from surgery at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Christine, four children, Jon, Laura, Ashley and Matthew, their spouses , eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren, his sister Linda Sylvester and his fur baby Lexie.
Sam was born in Oklahoma City where he attended Oklahoma University and remained a die hard Sooner. He served as a flight surgeon in the USAF for two years before he began his practice as an ENT and Facial Plastic Surgeon at West Florida Medical Center.
Sam had a passion for life and a strong devotion to his family, friends and his faith. He loved the beaches of Pensacola and the mountains of North Georgia where he and Christine lived for many years. He loved riding motorcycles and snow skiing and enjoyed many trips with Pensacola Ski Club.
He volunteered over 30 years for the American Cancer Society and loved giving back to the community. Sam had an incredible thirst for knowledge and helping others gave him so much joy.
Sam was truly a gifted physician, a loving husband and father and a devoted friend. He will be missed by all those that knew him.
A private service will be held at Sam and Christine's home at a later date.
