Cecil E. Fox Jr. completed his earthly journey on September 14, 2025, in Bradenton, FL, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 29, 1951, in Winter Haven, FL, Cecil's life was marked by unwavering faith, devoted service, and dedication to his family, friends, and community.
Cecil was a proud graduate of Manatee High School and furthered his education by earning an AS degree from Vincennes University. His commitment to excellence and service was evident through his distinguished 31-year career in the US Army, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major. Cecil's military decorations were numerous and included the Legion of Merit, six Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, six Army Good Conduct Medals, the Florida Cross, and the Florida Distinguished Service Medal. Notably, he also earned the Expert Badge for Rifle, Pistol, and Grenades, reflecting his exceptional skill and dedication.
Cecil also served his community as a Deputy with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office for 12 years. His unwavering dedication to his country and community exemplified the virtues of a true patriot. In his retirement, Cecil devoted his time as a Volunteer Operations Officer for the Manatee County Amateur Radio Emergency Service, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to helping others.
A man of deep Christian faith, Cecil served as a Deacon at Bible Baptist church and was actively involved in numerous ministries. He lived out the scripture, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." (Philippians 4:13), in both his professional and personal life. Cecil's love for his family was paramount. He is survived by his loving wife, Melody Fox; sister, Sandra Fox; sons Charles, Eric, and daughter-in-law Lynne; son-in-law David; and cherished grandchildren Jackson, Tyler, and Haley, who added so much joy to his life.
Cecil's interests were as wide-ranging as his talents. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace in hunting, fishing, SCUBA diving, and off-roading. Cecil's passion for photography allowed him to capture the beauty of God's creation, which he generously shared with others. Friends and family will remember him as a courageous, generous, and selfless man who would not hesitate to help fix, repair, or craft a solution to any problem that presented itself. He left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Cecil E. Fox Jr. will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will continue to guide and comfort us until we meet again in the presence of our Lord.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18,2025, from 5-7PM at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209. Graveside services will follow Friday, September 19,2025, at 10AM at Sarasota National Cemetery 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
