FEMA created in 1978 by Carter, became a stand alone cabinet member 1993 under Clinton. Bush put them under the newly created Dept. of Homeland Security created in 2003. FEMA ran better without that extra layer of bureaucracy of being under DHS for a response to a natural disaster.
Trump and his minions don’t want to fix immigration. They want an issue to rail against. If they really want to fix the “problem” arrest the farmers, contractors, restaurant owners and so on that attract migrants. No work, no migration. It would wreck the economy but hey you have to “break some eggs.”
Put drivers education back in the schools! The lousy, lackluster way drivers are obeying the rules is the lack of education and the failure to enforce the law.
I am very pleased that Commissioner Siddique acted to end the ridiculous wasteful purchasing of so many high maintenance, low benefit palm trees for the median improvements. THANK YOU!. On the other hand, I thing the Commissioner dodged, or completely missed the point when Dennis asked Siddique to comment on the process that led up to the roundabout on University at Deer Dr in LWR. The question was not necessarily about the pros and cons of roundabouts (although that is also unclear at this specific location) - but I think Dennis was trying to get Siddique to weigh in on yet another failure of transparency by Charlie Bishop's Administration. The residents out there were mis-led, over and over. They were not told what was actually happening. They thought they would get their day to comment but instead, Bishop pushed the contract through on consent. I just don't understand the unwillingness to hold Bishop accountable for all of the unethical, non-transparent, anti-public interest actions he has taken.It was Bishop who wrote the memo recommending the old city hall property be "surplussed" - paving the way for what will soon be 400 apartments on Manatee Ave at 15th St W. I could name action after action where Bishop has worked to protect special interests instead of the public and did not come clean beforehand with the board.
These organizations opposed to the detention center make me laugh. There's unbridled development going on all over Florida, some that encroach wetlands buffers, but there's no stink being made about that. A detention building to house illegals that is built on a defunct airstrip is a problem? Get a grip, stop clogging courts with nonsense!
They allowed the developers to destroy Parrish, and now they're after Myakka City.! What is the status of the 2 hospitals north of the river? No news about them in quite awhile!
Assuming he or his allies heard public remarks from commissioners about what was going on in Tallahassee. Its all politics, unfortunately…The County did receive some funding.
