Super duper important, now more than ever, that homebuyers understand CDDs and HOAs before they buy. Often communities belong to both.

Beautiful restoration that I hope continues in the area. I am a descendant of the Curry family that were the original “Conchs” or English Loyalists sent to the Bahamas after the Revolutionary War, who then migrated to Key West when it was still under British rule. This branch of the family left the Keys due to the rowdiness of the wrecking trade, to become Crackers, the Florida cattlemen that founded the town of Manatee, and ran their herds where Morgan Johnson Road is today. Thank you for appreciating our unique Florida history.

There is really no reason for you to not state that you are opposed to any development in this pristine nature area.

Excellent letter Pamela. Reflects my sentiments exactly...indeed I have written some of the same concerns on Facebook and to others who have supported this issue. Yes, we should hear each Commissioner quote those Kirk statements! Kirk was simply another MAGA divider who didn't "debate" on college campuses...he "proselytized!"

We want more public engagement but could you please shut up?  Also looking forward to a day when written public comment gets addressed.  There are many important items coming up in those comments that never get addressed or added to the agenda. It's like those comments never happened. Again, please be engaged but we will continue to ignore you?  Looking forward to having discussion on a new administrator in August.

It is obvious that the GOP Senators and House members will do everything in their power to obstruct justice and protect the guilty parties. If the victims want justice they will need to come forward and name names and any pertinent information they know. Is it possible for them to keep their identity unknown by providing detailed information as a protected news source? Perhaps by going to the foreign press they could recount what they know and remain protected.

I’m curious why the development entity - Slip Knott, LLC - also owns the parcel on the SW end of Terra Ceia Island (east side of Flounder Pass).

Thank you to the officials we elected to represent us, not faceless greed driven powerful entities that slither around Tallahassee politics. These wild lands are what’s left of the soul of native Florida. It’s a fight worth fighting.

Glad to see these folks discussing the subject but impacts are far beyond what was discussed. Yes preserving Rattlesnake Key is nice but is it in perpetuity? Why did the State purchase fall through when it has long been in the management plan for purchase for the Terra ceia Aquatic Preserve. Why did Boyd and Robinson who speak so fondly of the area now not push DEP to purchase and let the purchase fall through the cracks? Boyd and Robinson are as much to blame as DEP for not purchasing Rattlesnake Key in the first place. You don’t think the port supporters had a say? As Ms Corryea always says.,. “That’s interesting” What does the Terra Ceia Aquatic Preserve really mean as that is really where the cruise port is being proposed. Areas adjacent to the build site were previously purchased by SWFMD for the Terra Ceia Aquatic Preserve. And yes the proposed cruise port plan would impact critical habitat for the manatee. How about the impacts of dredging to those depending on the water for their livelihood. Impacts to shoreline erosion from removing submerged aquatic seagrass beds and mangroves. Even Rattlesnake Key could be adversely impacted by the proposed port. Certainly those that live in Terra Ceia will be less protected and susceptible to shoreline erosion. You have barely scratched the surface of the devastation this would cause to our Tampa Bay ecosystem. As for economics check out the backing of Blackstone and the fact that the Marine Company pushing this has a lobbyist working not just on the proposed port but also the change in port legislation to take away Manatee County’s part in Manatee Seaport. And lobbying with a DeSantis administration who can’t help themselves to take over county home rule by changing and creating legislation to make the building of this port easier and destroy our environment. You all need to dig deeper. You have a big knowledge gap to fill on this one.

This will do nothing to better the situation for the people. It's a head fake. People are already documenting the vast majority of ICE's lawlessness. Democrats and the few Republicans who still follow the constitution will have to demand that ICE follow the law, just like every other law enforcement agency. Remove masks, show identity, cease warrantless stops and home invasions. Just go after the criminals. Is that really so much to ask to keep us from having a national police state?

Do you think a lot of people in Manatee County are planning to move in the next 10 years? Why else is the loss of our fresh water supply being ignored? WAKE UP people!! Too much growth, too many crazy bills restricting home rule decisions on natural resources! Things need to change and your voice will help!
