Thomas W. Meeker, 83, of Ellenton, Florida, formerly of Sunbury, Ohio, passed away on February 3, 2024.
Tom was born in Sunbury, Ohio on January 14, 1941. He married the love of his life, Sondra (Sandy) Sue Maharg on July 16, 1966, in Newark, Ohio. Together they have 2 children: Machelle Mercer, Jeff (Christina) Meeker, 5 grandchildren: Lindsey (Thomas) Murphy, Brittany Mercer, Jonathan (Carissa) Meeker, Joel Mercer, Ashley Mercer, & 4 great-grandchildren: Theoden, Thorin, Elanorelle, Dain Meeker.
Tom has lived in Ellenton, Florida, as part of the Terra Siesta community for the past 20 years.
Tom, a 1959 graduate of Big Walnut High School, Sunbury, Ohio, went on to join the Ohio Air National Guard and was activated and served in Germany.
He work and retired from Western Electric, Columbus, Ohio, after 20 years, in 1981. He then dedicated the rest of his life to serve people as a full-time minister of the Gospel in Louisiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and Florida.
Tom enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, spending hours in the sunshine and with his family whenever possible.
Tom is survived by his sister, Janet Vaughn of Centerburg, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his brother Rick Forest.
Tom's Celebration of Life will be Saturday, February 10, 2pm at Hope International Ministries, 5425 39th St East, Bradenton, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Intl. Min.
An Ohio Memorial Service will be scheduled for late summer.
