Lexington, South Carolina - Born in Boston, MA in 1946, Susan moved with her parents to Orlando as a little girl. She graduated from Winter Park High School in 1964 and from Rollins College in 1968. She went on to earn her master's degree in Library and Information Science from The University of Oklahoma in 1988. She had a full and varied career as a librarian, helping children, adults, and academics use and love the library.

As befitting a librarian, Susan loved books and reading. She read everything from serious to silly and was an advocate for intellectual freedom. Susan loved nature and delighted in many adventures hunting mushrooms, learning about wildflowers, hiking, swimming in the ocean, adding to her life-list of birds, and more.

Many of Susan's friends knew her as a quilter who loved the colors and patterns of the fabrics she used to create artistic quilts. She also explored many other artistic modalities, enjoying the friendships she made making and sharing art.

Two of Susan's greatest joys were her grandsons, Tom Sinclair and Clark Sinclair, who survive her. She moved to Memphis, TN, Bradenton, FL, and Lexington, SC so she could know them and be part of their lives. During her last summer they spent many hours together having fun. She was immensely proud of the men they have become. She is also survived by her daughter, Nora Sinclair and son-in-law, Doug Sinclair. They were happy she moved to be near them last December and excited for this next phase of their lives together. All thought there would be much more time. Those who knew and loved Susan will miss her optimism, curiosity, intellect, and sparkle.

We will Celebrate Susan's Life on March 3, 2024 from 2-4 PM in the Meadowcroft Clubhouse located at 5701 15th Ave W, Bradenton, FL. Should you wish to make a memorial donation, please consider your local library or the Audubon Society.
