Sue Frances Thayer Moore

Sue Frances Thayer Moore, 87, of Bradenton, FL, passed away October 6, 2023. She was born in South Charleston, WV to the late Ellis (Jack) and Virginia Thayer and was a graduate of South Charleston High School. After high school, Sue attended Marshall University and earned her teaching certificate. She taught in a one-room school for 1 year before eloping with her beloved Charlie. They spent the first 24 years of their marriage traveling the world in the US Air Force with their three sons, living in England, North Carolina, the Philippines, Arizona, back to England, then California.

As an Air Force wife, Sue held many accomplishments, including volunteer nursing at Clark hospital in the Philippines during the Vietnam conflict. She was a cub scout leader and little league den mother for all three of her sons. Additionally, she started an enlisted men's wives club in England.

Once Sue and Charlie retired to FL in 1978, Sue did not slow down. She was very active in the children's ministry, sewing group, circle groups, ushering, and much more at Trinity United Methodist Church. She also started the first Daisy Girl Scout troop in Manatee County, and she became a substitute teacher. She had many hobbies, including sewing, crafting, and cooking.

She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley (Edwin) Thomas of Fairhope, AL. She is survived by her husband, Charles Moore of Bradenton, FL; sons, Randy (Melinda) Moore of Myakka, FL, Rick (Sheila) Moore of Oxford, NC, Todd (Amy) Moore of Bradenton, FL, and her greatest joys, her four grandchildren, Megan Moore, of Bradenton, FL, Matthew (Libby) Moore of Gainesville, GA, Emily Moore of Orlando, FL, and Maddie Moore of Raleigh, NC.

A Visitation will be held 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, Florida, 34209. A private family Celebration of Life is planned at a later date.
