Clermont, Florida - It is with deep regret and overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of Paul E. Riordan. Paul was born on July 6, 1967, in Bradenton, FL and passed away on January 12, 2024, at the age of 56.
Paul leaves a legacy of professional achievements after 31 years with the Orlando Police Department. His contributions to the success of the Communications Division are numerous but it was his dedication, compassion, sense of humor, and contagious laugh that made him a beloved member of the Department. The Orlando Police Department and City of Orlando have honored Paul with several awards over the years including Administrative Excellence, Award of Merit and Award of Commendation for his outstanding work. Paul was an alumnus of the University of South Florida (USF) and graduated with a B.S. in business. Paul was an avid volunteer and loved helping others. He accepted the responsibility of taking care of family members in their time of need and enriched their lives with his love and understanding.
Paul was an amazing brother, friend, cousin, uncle, and outstanding man. He couldn't do enough for those he cared for and always made things better just being there. Everyone that knew him has a story of how Paul made them feel better and special. He wasn't shy about his love for cookies, brownies (with no nuts!!) and ice cream. Every Christmas he would make snickerdoodles and bring them to work; it was the highlight of the season! Everyone that knows Paul knows he loves Snoopy. He was never far from his Snoopy cup and blanket.
Paul never let his personal challenges stop him from enjoying life. People respected him for his positive attitude and ability to accept things as they were and work around issues. He loved cruises, having fun and visiting friends and family. You could hear him laughing hysterically at TikTok videos all the time. He was a joy to know.
Paul was preceded in death by family members Janis Lane Riordan, James Riordan, William Reese, Mary Reese Reznor, and Robert E. Peabody. He is survived by his brother, Steven Peabody (Sandra), brother, David Peabody, sister, Judith Wray (Derek), beloved friend, Michael Manning (Talie), Partner, Barbara Saunders, nephews and nieces, Steve, Josh (Emily), Alex, Zach, Amber, Maryleigh, Charlotte, Alexander, loving cousins near and far, and too many friends to count. He will be forever loved and missed.
A Celebration of life for our beloved Paul Riordan will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Heritage Hills Clubhouse, 3195 Heritage Hills Blvd, Clermont, FL 34711, from 1:00 -4:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
