Bradenton, Florida - Mary Fontana Palmer brought joy to others with her effervescence and inclusivity. Although she dealt with debilitating lifelong effects of childhood polio, Mary made light of her situation and found a lifetime of happiness with family and friends. Born July 14, 1948 in Washington, DC, to Claire Lockwood Fontana and Major General Paul J. Fontana ( USMC). Mary graduated from Quantico High School, Quantico, VA, and attended Lees-McRae college in Banner Elk, NC.
After a 35 year career as a medical secretary with the United States Navel Academy, Annapolis, MD, she retired to Bradenton, FL, with her husband, Charles Palmer, who predeceased her. Mary has two sisters, Susan Fontana Isaacs Palmer and husband, Richard, Ann Fontana Landon and husband, Richard, and her brother, Paul J. Fontana, Jr., (deceased). She was loved by nieces, Nicki Landon McAuliffe, Stacy Landon McCord, and nephew, Jonathan Isaacs and their families, including her 3 great-nieces and 6 great-nephews as well as her husband's two nephews.
