BRADENTON — Manatee County will hold an open-house-style public meeting to share information about planned traffic signal improvements at the intersection of 26th Avenue East and 27th Street East.
The meeting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the pavilion on the Mixon property, 2525 27th St. E., Bradenton, FL 34208.
The proposed project will improve traffic operations and safety at the intersection by adding left-turn lanes in all directions. Currently, the intersection lacks dedicated left-turn lanes or protected left-turn signal phases. The planned improvements will provide a safer, more organized way for drivers to make left turns while improving traffic flow through the intersection.
“This project will improve safety and traffic flow at a key intersection while providing safer access to the County’s newly purchased Mixon property,” said District 2 Commissioner Amanda Ballard. “These improvements will make travel through the area safer and more efficient while better serving the residents, visitors and businesses that rely on this intersection every day.”
In addition to the new left-turn lanes, the project will include new sidewalk connections and drainage improvements at the intersection. Construction is expected to begin in early November and is anticipated to take about one year to complete. The County will work to maintain access and minimize disruptions during construction.
Residents, nearby businesses, and other interested community members are invited to attend, review project information, speak with County staff, and provide feedback. The meeting will be conducted in an open-house format, allowing attendees to stop by at any time during the two-hour period.
