John F. Stanley, 78, of Bradenton, passed away peacefully after a long illness on January 21, 2024. Born in Anderson, Indiana, to Frank and Mildred (McDole) Stanley, John was a 1963 graduate of Lapel High
School. He retired from Guide in 1995 after 32 years of service during most of which he was a Tool and Die maker.
John loved watching and playing sports as well as spending time with his family and friends. While at Lapel High, he played varsity basketball. In later years, he and his wife, Janet, played golf and were members of Killbuck Golf Club.
John coached youth sports in Alexandria, Indiana and was a proud Papaw who could often be found attending his grandsons' sporting events. He was great at home improvement projects and taught his kids the value of doing a job well. In addition, John was an active member of the Anderson Elks for over 10 years.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred Stanley, and his brother, James Stanley. John leaves behind a legacy of love survived by his wife of 45 years, Janet; sister, Joan, and children, Scott, Greg
(Carrie), Lesly, John David, and Tim (Peggy). Additionally, he will be deeply missed by his five grandsons: Alex, Elliot, Josh, Ethan, and Nate.
