PALMETTO — On Saturday, March 7, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Palmetto will celebrate its history at Palmetto’s Heritage Festival at Palmetto Historical Park and Manatee County Agricultural Museum, 515 10th Ave. West. This FREE event will feature a park open house and activities for the whole family.
The 1880 Heritage Station Post Office will be operational with a one-day-only cancellation designed by local resident Emma Baxter. Bring your stamped mail! Activities, crafts, contests, and outreach organizations will be held throughout the grounds.
A spinning demonstration will take place during the da,y and if you love trivia, a Red, White & Blue Trivia Contest will take place at 11:00 AM. The cancellation artist recognition with Palmetto Mayor Dan West & Palmetto Postmaster Marlon English will take place at 11:30 in front of the Post Office.
While at the Agricultural Museum, enjoy “Soakin’ It In – Sponge Harvesting in Florida,” an exhibit on loan from the Florida Maritime Museum. And in the
Carnegie Library: see Palmetto Historical Commission’s inaugural “River Current Artist Series” featuring artists whose work reflects the spirit, history, and everyday beauty of our region. Opening the series is accomplished plein air artist Cory Wright, known for her light-filled scenes inspired by Old Florida landscape and travels abroad.
