Michael Ross & Fred Johnson
Cafe in the Park
Friday: 7:00 p.m.

Michael Ross, one of the area's premier bassists, will join Fred Johnson for an intimate evening of bass and vocal jazz. As a dynamic jazz and world music vocalist, Fred Johnson has toured with the likes of B.B. King, Aretha Franklin, Chick Corea and Miles Davis, and has been compared to such greats as Jon Hendricks and Al Jarreau. He was the most prominent jazz artist in the bay area for years, before devoting more time to working for peace and conflict resolution internationally through his artistry.

Johnson’s bay area appearances are rarer now, and all the more treasured. Most recently, Johnson has teamed up with the long-established Ross to create the bass and jazz-vocal duo.

“Fred takes you right to the heart of things, to why music is an essential part of us,” said Tampa jazz club president Bob Seymour. “And he’s simply one of the greatest singers you’ll hear – teaming him with the Michael Ross is really a dream team combination.” No cover.

Always check for updates each week due to inclement weather.
