Robert John Grosser, known to many as Bob, passed away on October 2, 2026, in Bradenton, Florida, at the age of 89. Born on October 21, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, he lived a long and meaningful life marked by dedication, hard work, and a deep love for his family and the simple pleasures that brought him joy each day.
Bob graduated from Lutheran High School in 1955, an achievement that reflected the steady character and determination that would guide him throughout his life. He went on to serve his country as a veteran of the United States Army, where he spent two years in the howitzers division. His service was an important part of who he was, and he carried that experience with quiet pride throughout his life.
Those who knew Bob will remember him as a man who always liked to stay busy. He had a strong appreciation for sailboats and sailing, and he enjoyed the freedom and peace that came with being on the water. He also took great satisfaction in building and remodeling homes, vans, and trailers, using his hands and practical skills to create and improve whatever he worked on. He loved being outside and taking care of the yard, and he found purpose in staying active and productive. Bob was the kind of person who always wanted to be doing something, and that spirit remained with him throughout his life.
Family was central to Bob’s life. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia “Pat” Grosser; his son, Steven Grosser; his daughter, Christine Nelson; his granddaughter, Megan; and his great-granddaughters, Alexis and Shianne. His family was a source of great pride and joy to him, and he cherished the time he spent with them. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion that will continue to be felt by those who knew him best.
Bob’s life was one of steady commitment and quiet accomplishment. He approached each day with a willingness to work, a desire to help, and an appreciation for the value of being useful. He did not seek attention, but he earned the respect of others through his actions, his reliability, and the way he carried himself. His presence brought comfort and stability to his family, and his memory will remain a lasting source of strength to them.
He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his hands-on nature, and the satisfaction he found in a job well done. He will also be remembered for the way he lived with purpose and kept moving forward.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Bob lived in a way that was true to himself, guided by practical values, a strong work ethic, and a genuine appreciation for life’s everyday blessings.
Robert John Grosser will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to perseverance, service, and devotion, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved.
