Mayor's Corner: City of Bradenton

Posted

One of the most meaningful events I’ve attended recently was the dedication of a restored home through Manatee County Habitat for Humanity’s Storm Safe Home Renewal Program. The home belonged to a longtime resident whose family history was tied to the property, but years of storm damage had left it unsafe to live in.

What made the day special wasn’t just seeing a home restored. It was seeing what can happen when a community comes together. Through partnerships involving Habitat for Humanity, local churches, nonprofit organizations, and funding provided through the City of Bradenton’s Community Development Block Grant program, a resident was able to return home and preserve a place filled with memories.

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day and America’s 250th anniversary, I am reminded that strong communities are built by people willing to invest in one another. That same spirit of collaboration shows up every day throughout Bradenton, whether through volunteer service, neighborhood projects, or major community investments like City Park.

As you celebrate this Fourth of July, I encourage you to take pride in our community, spend time with family and friends, and consider displaying an American flag as we commemorate this historic milestone in our nation’s history.
