While Earth Day is recognized once a year, caring for Bradenton’s parks and public spaces requires consistent, hands-on attention.
City crews work to maintain and improve green spaces through landscaping updates, plantings, and routine maintenance. This work takes place across the city, from residential areas to highly visible spaces like the Riverwalk.
Working with Keep Manatee Beautiful, the City’s Tree & Land Preservation Board helps support tree plantings and makes it possible for native trees to be distributed to residents, extending these efforts beyond public spaces and into neighborhoods.
Residents interested in a free native tree can pick one up during the final two Saturday distributions of the season, held during the Bradenton Public Market on April 25 and May 30.
More trees mean cooler streets, cleaner air, and better habitat for the wildlife that shares this city with us. They also help preserve the character of our community. It is the work that continues every day across The Friendly City.

As a member of City of Bradenton's Tree and Land Preservation Board, I can attest to the City being committed to protecting and replacing trees. We lost 30% of our tree canopy in storms over the last few years. Every tree is important to our environment. Please protect, plant and appreciate our trees! Ruth Lawler
