BRADENTON — Whether by land, sea, or shore, Keep Manatee Beautiful (KMB) volunteers can help beautify a 3-mile stretch of Manatee Avenue West on Saturday, March 7, as part of the local celebration of the Great American Cleanup.
The Bradenton-based event will take place this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon along Manatee Avenue Causeway from west Bradenton to the eastern entry of Anna Maria Island. Volunteers of all ages are invited to register online in advance. They can choose from several cleanup options based on interest and comfort level
“The Great American Cleanup is the perfect way to get outdoors and get active during our most beautiful time of the year,” said KMB Executive Director Jennifer Hoffman. “This is going to be a great event for volunteers who want to help protect an area that needs extra attention because of all the visitors it attracts and because of all the traffic that passes on a daily basis.”
The event will focus on improving local roadside areas and waterways along Manatee Avenue. Volunteers of all ages are invited to participate and can choose from several cleanup options based on interest and comfort level.
Cleanup opportunities include a water-based cleanup for experienced paddlers bringing their own kayak or paddle craft, a beach cleanup at the King Fish Boat Ramp, and a causeway cleanup along the Palma Sola Causeway. Supplies will be provided while quantities last.
The Great American Cleanup is the country’s largest annual community improvement program, engaging millions of volunteers nationwide to remove litter, beautify public spaces and raise awareness about environmental stewardship.
Participants are encouraged to RSVP online and should wear closed-toe shoes, dress for the weather and bring reusable water bottles.
Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
