DOH-Manatee Issues Water Quality Health Advisory for Palma Sola South

Posted

MANATEE COUNTY — The Florida Department of Health in Manatee County (DOH-Manatee) has issued a water quality health advisory for the following location: Palma Sola South, 8500 Manatee Ave. West (East End, South Side of Palma Sola Causeway) Bradenton, FL 34209.

Tests completed on Monday, August 25, 2025, and Wednesday, August 27, 2025, indicate that the water quality at Palma Sola South does not meet the recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria recommended by the Florida Department of Health.

DOH-Manatee advises against any water-related activities at this location due to an increased risk of illness in swimmers. Sampling conducted during regular water quality monitoring showed that the level of bacteria exceeds the level established by state guidelines.

This advisory will continue until bacteria levels are below the accepted health level. Test results are available at FloridaHealth.gov/HealthyBeaches.

I wonder if they are going to post this or is the county/city just going to let people go in. There are lots of swimmers and companies renting jet skis there.

Florida Dep't. of Health should also monitor North Palma Sola Bay.. When I was picking up litter on the Causeway on August 20, I observed a large number dead fish washed up on the North Palma Sola Bay shoreline.

There are no warning signs on either side of Palma Sola Bay.
