Chief's Corner: Melanie Bevan, BPD

Posted

On behalf of the Bradenton Police Department, I thank our Bradenton community for the overwhelming support of our 2023 Fill the Truck Toy Drive. Despite windy, rainy weather on donation day, the toys came flooding in! BPD was able to provide gifts to a dozen organizations, and we still had toys left over to hand out. Our officers were delighted to drive through neighborhoods and pass out gifts. It filled us with such joy and holiday spirit - and it's because of you.

We also had a very successful 15th Annual Honoring the Badge event. Approximately 125 families facing hardships or needing assistance buying gifts this Christmas spent an evening shopping at Walmart with] Bradenton Police officers and staff, Bradenton Fire Department firefighters, Mayor Gene Brown, Councilwomen Marianne Barnebey and Jayne Kocher and Councilman Josh Cramer, and numerous other personnel from various divisions within the City. We appreciate our sponsors, including Walmart, Cox Chevrolet, Kingdom Life Christian Church, and the Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County.

BPD is excited for what's to come in 2024. We encourage everyone to follow us @BradentonPD on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (X), where we post frequent updates on investigations, patrol details, employment opportunities, and more.
