Chief's Corner: Melanie Bevan, BPD

Posted

The Bradenton Police Department raised awareness about seat belt safety during its annual Click It or Ticket high-visibility seat belt enforcement campaign, held May 22 through June 4. Preliminary information indicates our officers wrote more than 60 citations for seat belt violations during that time.

The campaign, which coincided with the Memorial Day holiday, combined increased enforcement and a zero-tolerance policy with effective communication to road users on the importance of seat belt use for drivers and passengers. Please buckle up every time you re in a vehicle!

Also, BPD wants to remind you that during the summer months, would-be thieves are on the lookout for items that can easily be taken. Unlocked doors, open windows, and open garage doors all provide the temptation to steal valuables like bikes, packages, cell phones, and purses that have been left in plain view.

Please remove items from your vehicles and ensure they re locked, even if you plan to be in a location for a short time. Also, don t let valuables out of your sight at community pools, parks, and beaches.
