Chief's Corner: Bradenton Fire Department

Posted

Hurricane season begins June 1, and now is the time to start preparing. While seasonal forecasts may project fewer storms this year, it only takes one storm to bring heavy rain, flooding, damaging winds, and extended power outages to our area.

Residents are encouraged to review emergency plans, know their evacuation level, gather emergency supplies, and prepare their homes before a storm is forecast. Floridians are encouraged to keep at least 7 days' worth of food, water, medications, batteries, and other essential supplies on hand.

It’s also important to have multiple ways to receive alerts and information throughout hurricane season.

Preparedness resources, evacuation information, emergency alerts, and additional planning tools are available on the City’s Emergency Preparedness webpage at www.cityofbradenton.com/emergency. Business preparedness resources are also available through the Florida Division of Emergency Management at www.floridadisaster.org/business.
