BRADENTON — Get ready for more cold weather. According to the National Weather Service, Floridians can expect temperatures to drop into the 30s as far south as Tampa Bay as a polar vortex moves across the East Coast this weekend.
With warmer weather on both sides of the cold front, meteorologists expect a continuation of significant temperature swings.
"Brief warm-up expected Thursday and Friday before a cold front brings some of the coolest temps of the season for some locations this weekend," the National Weather Service Tampa Bay posted to X on Thursday.
The agency added that "widely scattered mainly light showers" may "redevelop early Friday morning ahead of an approaching cold front responsible for the upcoming weekend cool down."
The agency has forecast a low of 47 degrees for Friday overnight, dropping to a low of 39 degrees Saturday night into Sunday morning before returning to a high in the low 70s on Monday.
