A lot happened across Bradenton this year, and 2025 set the stage for improvements residents will begin to feel in 2026. From public safety upgrades to major investments in utilities and community spaces, many long-term projects reached important milestones.
While this is only a snapshot of a very busy year, these projects stood out for the impact they will have on our community moving forward:
Faster emergency response times
Fire Station 2 (2233 Manatee Avenue East) opened this year, improving coverage for families on the east side and strengthening citywide response.
More reliable utilities and better protection during heavy rain
Bradenton already has more than $100 million in wastewater improvements underway, supported by a mix of City utility funds and outside funding, including state and federal grants. In 2026, more of this long-term work will be visible, including continued treatment upgrades, lift station improvements, and pipe lining to reduce inflow and infiltration (I&I) during storms. The $8.3 million in state funding secured this year will help move additional stormwater and wastewater projects forward, improving drainage and strengthening system performance citywide.
A big step forward for public safety
Construction began on the new Bradenton Police headquarters, which will support modern policing, updated technology, and long-term community needs.
Laying the groundwork for the future City Park project
Demolition of the old Public Works building made way for the future expansion of LECOM Park. This community-centered project includes plans for additional baseball fields, expanded parking, and upgraded tournament-ready facilities. But it also goes beyond baseball, with plans for a future Community Resource Center, supported by partners such as the Manatee Police Athletic League, Manatee County, and the School District, along with numerous other community partners. While construction has not begun yet, the planning work and additional partnerships formed in 2025 mark important steps toward a project that will support youth programs, community services, and sports tourism in the years ahead.
