ST. PETERSBURG — American Stage will host a thought-provoking discussion on the intersection of art, science, and environmental awareness, in conjunction with its upcoming production of The Good Peaches. This free community engagement event will take place on Thursday, September 11, at 5:30 p.m. at American Stage Theatre Company.
The conversation will feature Dwayne Virgint, CEO of Tampa Bay Watch, and Helen R. Murray, Producing Artistic Director of American Stage. Together, they will explore how The Good Peaches intertwines environmental themes with storytelling, delving into how weather and natural forces shape community identity and action in the Tampa Bay area.
“The Good Peaches provides the perfect backdrop to explore how art, weather, and our community intertwine here in Tampa Bay,” says Helen R. Murray. “We're thrilled to have the support of Tampa Bay Watch in bringing this epic story to life—especially as we face hurricane season. Hopefully, The Good Peaches is the only storm to hit our area this year!”
The Good Peaches is an immersive theatrical experience that combines theatre, dance, and live orchestra to tell the story of Aurora, a young girl whose wish for change is answered by a powerful storm. This collaboration between American Stage, The Florida Orchestra, and projectALCHEMY offers a unique perspective on the relationship between humans and the environment. A portion of all ticket proceeds will be donated to Tampa Bay Watch.
The community conversation will provide attendees with an opportunity to engage with the creatives behind the production and gain deeper insight into the themes and inspirations that drive the performance. This event is part of American Stage's ongoing commitment to fostering dialogue and connection within the community.
Admission to Thursday's discussion is free, but reservations are recommended. To reserve your seat or learn more about The Good Peaches, please visit www.americanstage.org.
