Yes, it takes a conversation to reveal that divisions usually are not what those seeking to benefit from creating polarization drum up. Conversations Across The Asile — CATA programs — could be quite beneficial, look forward to coverage of them please.

The 2024 NCF Master Plan shows a proposed baseball field using all of the land that NC owns at the NE corner of US41 and University Parkway. All of the remaining NC East Campus, 34 acres, is owned by the Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority (SMAA). The SMAA tried to sell those 34 acres to NC earlier this year, but the Federal Aviation Administration stopped the sale as not in the best interest of the airport. Now Carlos Beruff, the longest serving SMAA board member, gives NC $1M to construct a ball field with his name on it. The only access to that ball field is across airport land via General Spaatz Blvd. The ball stadium is too close to the US41/University Parkway intersection to allow any new access to be created on NC owned land, so this new ball stadium will rely upon using SMAA land. If the SMAA ever wants to use its own land for airport purposes, this Beruff baseball field would be an obstacle. Building codes don't allow new construction that does not have its own street access and parking areas, but NC is exempt from local building codes. NC and SMAA boards and administrators continue the political overreach desired by those who appointed them.

A good start, now get rid of the politically appointed employees, and get back a real county administrator.

Couldn’t agree more on DeSantis being a better candidate for Secretary of Defense. Although I’m glad I am not in any uniformed service he leads. It has been bad enough having him as my governor! Don’t know if Nunez is any better - though she can’t be worse! Jim Tierney, Bradenton..

Medicare plans and the Affordable Care Act are both government subsidized for profit private healthcare programs. Medicaid is a substandard payer for medical services and severely limits access to quality healthcare. The uninsured have to use the most expensive access to care, emergency rooms, and drive up the costs in the system while receiving limited poor medical care. The politicians restrain Medicare from providing pharmacy coverage. We have the most expensive health CASTE system in the world while ranking 37th in the quality of our system. We have a for profit system aided and abetted by both parties in Washington that cares more about their wealth than your health. Medical debt is the number one consumer debt in the US and the number one cause of personal bankruptcy. We need to adopt Medicare for all and expand its services to include pharmacy, and other services that are currently limited. If we truly want to be a Christian nation the number one priority we should have is the health and welfare of our people not the profiteering of mega healthcare companies. We can do this and reduce costs dramatically and reduce the size of government bureaucracy, to the benefit of corporations and individuals.

This is well written, and describes our current and future as it relates to weather events. MCG staff have 180 days (less holidays/weekends) to get ready. June 1st, 2025 will be here before they know it. Every storm water ditch, maintenance devices (pond dams walls), Lake Manatee Dam and other item needs to be cleaned up or repaired. Understanding we are still awaiting the report on Hurricane Debbys impact on our community. This report shouldn't stop the cleanup or repairs that needs to take place. I am certain the road gang staff from the Sheriff's Office can assist. Let's go MCG, citizens depend on you.

I am flabbergasted when I read stories of a workplace voting AGAINST unionizing. There have been auto factories in Tennessee and Amazon warehouses in New York and Alabama to name just a few. Those workers that vote no to being represented by a union are fools. I know the protections, the benefits, the safety, and especially the seat at the table that being in a union brings. The brave people like this young man, Dori Goldberg, should ask employees that work in companies that have both bargaining and non-bargaining employees to speak to their workforce prior to a vote. The non-bargaining employees will explain how they are exploited compared to their bargaining unit co-workers. Amazon employees should definitely unionize. Good luck.

Richard Tatem, who plays games with the law to stay in power, has some nerve questioning Mr. Kennedy. Mr. Tatem, have you no shame? Have you no personal honor that tells you to do the right thing? You should should not be on the board - you quit. Not only did you quit, you did so in a deceptive way that was a slap in the face to voters who were denied the right to choose their representative. What is it with Manatee County having so many "leaders" without integrity? It is the Pedicini disease. And when voters try to treat it at the ballot box, DeSantis re-infects us with another swamp appointment like Tatem.

Cheri, I'm so glad you reminded us that you were removed from Manatee County Government in a very inappropriate way, and that George Kruse was part of that action. Additionally, SO MUCH institutional knowledge has been lost over the last four years through the slash and burn "leadership" of the Administrators and Commissiones since your dismissal, in order for the handful of developers to get what they wanted. We still have three Commissioners on the BOCC who are part of the "conservative" governing stance. Still much work needs to be done to bring balance and healthy leadership back. Thank you for your MANY years of service and caring. Ruth Lawler

LIE….Brown assured the board that “everyone is working hard, boots on the ground, fast forward, as quickly as possible.” LIE… Construction Manager Yarger said, “We’re pretty confident we can get somebody in there (the Bishop kennels) by December or January. LIE… Charlie Bishop On April 23, 2024, the administration said the 32 jail Kennels would be installed that summer, the Bishop design would be completed by July LIE… Charlie Bishop said that dogs would be moving out of Palmetto by the end of the year. Lets not forget that HDR architects are being paid $527,91`5.00 for design services alone. Plus, they just came back and ask and got another 10,000 for a traffic study that was not needed that stated from the traffic dept of the county stated, “Based on discussions with staff, they would support a TIS waiver for the project. Therefore, only an operational analysis should be required.” I spoke to Horizon structures on the order of 2 units for the jail. They stated that construction would not begin until the concrete foundation is poured and have not heard from the county in months. They can put in multi million roundabouts with sidewalks and curbs but can’t get a simple concrete slab done? Bishop has got to go! This seems like a push to privatize, because the investor activity in education has not been as successful as hoped. To me it seems like they're trying to take out their competition, by being the decision makers. That's going to leave a lot of people unfairly unrepresented. Also I can't help but notice the number of instances where Florida's legislature took Federal funding and did not use it for the purpose intended, but instead use the interest for whatever they wanted. Some of that pandemic money that didn't get distributed is still benefiting.... who, exactly? So to say rural states can just have some funding and do with it what they will, will depend on the ethics of those orchestrating the program. I'm sure nothing could go wrong there... lol.

Got it. The "Center for Renewing America" exists to violate My first amendment rights to practice my own spiritual traditions. Love how these chumps preach about freedom to hide the intention of taking freedoms from people. Fake patriotism, AKA nationalism, is never good. Also, I feel like those countries who are engaging in disinformation campaigns against the United States have been very successful, which is disheartening.

— the next phase of the initiative to get a right to clean water for all Floridians is in play — the new target is to get the question onto the 2026 ballot so the Florida voters may decide whether the state must work toward clean water (rather than allowing polluters to have their way). Rules make it necessary to sign a new petition (the previous ones were not enough to get on the 2024 ballot). So sign again, get involved to get others in your neighborhood to sign, surely you can get ten Florida voters to sign among your friends, family, and contacts, and if you can, donate so reaching the number needed is feasible. Even residents and visitors who are not registered voters may donate to help get this on the ballot (they need clean water also). It is up to us to get it on the ballot so all Florida voters may approve having clean waters, we know it will pass easily. Only with the correct number of petitions signed by Florida voters required — will get it on the ballot. more at: https://www.floridarighttocleanwater.org/
