Holmes Beach Residents Deserve Equal Rights

Posted

It’s been an eye-opening experience to watch the HB Mayor take control in a way that leaves many residents questioning their rights. She sees no difference between 65 and 50 decibels, even though science shows 65 is 3.5 times more intense than 50.

As a Holmes Beach resident, it’s difficult to watch constitutional rights being violated for a biased decision that favors one area over the rest. The mayor pushed for a unique, quieter decibel level for her area, creating a clear double standard. While the rest of Holmes Beach must follow the established noise ordinance, one area gets preferential treatment, as though the rules don’t apply equally to all. This is unacceptable. If it's good for one, it should be good for all.

The noise ordinance exists to protect all residents from disturbances that disrupt the promised peaceful life in our residential zones. But this decision isn’t just about noise levels – it’s about fairness, equality, and the principle that no one should be above the law. What message is sent when elected officials can sidestep regulations for their own benefit? When one area gets special treatment, it undermines trust in the very system meant to serve us all.

Residents of Holmes Beach deserve to be treated equally under the law. There must be accountability. This sets a dangerous precedent, one that could lead to further favoritism. This issue affects us all. Equality and fairness must prevail. Holmes Beach is not exempt from the 14th Amendment, which guarantees equal protection under the law.

Well… There’s always the voting booth

Obviously, she was not vetted very well or the community didn’t ask the right questions

    Trust but verify.
