Kathie J. Geartz, 77, of Palmetto, Florida, passed away on April 3, 2024, from C.O.P.D with loving family by her side.
She supported everything and made sure everything was done right. She was honest, loving, and caring. When you met her, you just loved her. Kathie would go out of her way to help make things better for family, friends, and people that worked for her. She was strait to the point if she wanted something for herself or others.
Kathie was born in Erlanger, Kentucky, and she moved to Miami, Florida, at the age of 4. She moved to Bradenton, Florida, at the age of 13 and met the love of her life a few years later. From that point on she loved Kent till the end. Kathie and Kent married in 1965 and moved to Kansas while he was in the Army. After their daughter, Kelly, was born, they moved back to Bradenton, Florida, while Kent was stationed in Vietnam. Kathie worked hard to keep things up until Kent returned and shortly after, their son, Kasey, was born.
She was a stay-at-home mom that worked hard to keep things clean and the family running smooth. Due to the success of their business: Geartz Construction, est. 1972, Kathie was able to enjoy things. She bowled with Kent and the kids, loved to see her children play and enjoy life. Kent called her a little league mom that would yell at the refs. Kathie enjoyed many activities with friends and family from water and snow skiing to riding dirt motorcycles. She even taught her husband, Kent, how to water ski. Then came Kathie's golf interest. She got good and won her flight in the DuPont Open Championships, then got to play in the finals out of 5,000 people. Out of everything that life had to offer, what Kathie enjoyed most was taking care of her home, family, and grandchildren that she loved so dearly.
Kathie is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Sullivan, Sr. and Laverne Sullivan, and brother, Robert Sullivan, Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Kent Geartz; daughter, Kelly (Mike) Nicholson; son, Kasey (Carrie) Geartz; grandchildren, Korey, Taylor, and Carrington; step grandchildren, Christian, Jordan, Macala, and Jared and great-grandchild, Rhysand. She is also survived by the Geartz family in Buffalo, New York, Richart family in Winter Haven, Florida and her nieces, Dawn and Tricia.
She will be missed always, especially when the family plays.
She now helps run the Heavens.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11 AM at Brown and Sons Funeral Homes 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street West, Bradenton, FL, 34207. A Reception will follow the Service from 12 PM to 2 PM at the Funeral Home. Kathie will be laid to rest at Sarasota National Cemetery on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 2:30 PM.
