Herbert T. O'Leary, 94, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully on May 1, 2022, surrounded by his loving family in Bradenton, Florida.
Herbert was born July 23, 1927, in Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of James and Mary Ellen. After high school, Herbert served his country by enlisting in the Army. Herbert married the love of his life, Veronica (O’Krinsky) in 1951. Herbert was employed for 30 years as a machinist at Bendix, Teterboro, NJ in aviation. After his retirement, Herbert and Veronica moved to Bradenton in 1978.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers. Survivors include his children and their spouses, Kristine and Norman Stern, Sharon and Dominic Santobuono, Ilene and Steven Leggett. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Michael Stern and his wife, Sabrina, Melissa Goyak, Laura Santobuono, Jen Santobuono, Emily McCarthy, Joseph Leggett, Jared Leggett and his wife, Sheena. He is also blessed with 10 great grandchildren.
Herbert enjoyed bowling, doing elaborate puzzles and traveling. Herbert was an enthusiastic fan of the Giants, Yankees and Notre Dame. The most important thing to Herbert was spending time with his family. You could always count on Herbert for a good laugh and a warm hug. Herbert was a long-time parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bradenton.
A Celebration of Herbert’s Life will be private for the family. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
