Locaton: Bradenton Beach

Date of Death: January 4, 2014
Age at death: 79

Ramon Marra, 79, of Bradenton Beach, lost his courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease on January 4, 2014. He was born in Guantanamo, Cuba and migrated to Florida in 1962 after being expelled by the Castro government. He served 18 months in Castro's prison for his anti-communist activities. He was proud  to become an American citizen and was always grateful for America's liberties and opportunities. Upon migrating to America he obtained,  at age 37, a degree in accounting from Florida Atlantic University. He accomplished this honor despite barely speaking English. He worked as an Auditor for the City of Tampa and served as City Auditor for 4 of those years until he relocated to Bradenton, Florida to assist his daughter, Teresa Marra, at her law office.

Marra was a proud member of the Downtown Tampa Lions' Club and the Tampa Cuban Civic Club. He retired in 2002 and spent his time fishing, playing softball and enjoying his grandchildren. He was a man who lived life to the fullest and found every person a friend. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy; his daughter, Teresa Marra of Denver, CO; his daughter, Nancy, married to Andre Perron, and two grandchildren, Jeremy and Jacqueline Perron all of Bradenton, FL.
