David A. Pomorski
May 7, 1957 – Sept. 7, 2013
David A. Pomorski, Bradenton Beach, Fl. God's mercy was finally granted on Sept 7, when he took our beloved brother into his arms and carried him away to the peace he deserved.
David Allen Pomorski was a warrior. His strength and optimism in the face of his cancer left an indelible mark on everyone who crossed his path.
A master shipwright, David moved from Erie, Pa to Bradenton Beach, in 1978. He learned the trade under the influence of his father, the late Martin Pomorski. As dock master of the Erie Yacht Club, he instilled the love of boats in his talented, impressionable son. David went on to create a reputation of a fine craftsman, inventor and artist and damn good golfer. His passion was wooden boats, and he won many awards for his work through the years. He loved to sail, but his greatest joy was in a little skiff, roaming the shallows of the bay south of Cortez.
Though he lived here over 30 years, he was a private man and never married. His beautiful blue eyes and kind heart attracted love, camaraderie and friendship from all walks of life.
His loving sisters, Pam Chrzanowski of Erie, PA and Patricia McCarthy of Denver, CO wrapped him in love until the end. Unconditional support by Pam's husband John and Patricia's fiance Dr. Frank Benison who enabled that care was never interrupted. Dave Mulligan of Erie was another integral part in his 2.5 year battle, acting as friend and caregiver .
Preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Sally and Martin, he leaves a void in the hearts of his sisters, brother Larry Pomorski and his wife Camille of Erie, a favorite Uncle, Edward Jares of Erie. His closest cousin Dan and wife Theresa organized a benefit in Erie that gathered hundreds of people together to pledge their loving support. He took joy from his many nieces and nephews and their children, who all recognized that Uncle David was pretty special.
" It is, what it is" was his mantra. He will live on forever in our hearts
A celebration of his life will be held on Sat, Sept 14 at high noon at his last residence, 116 11th St So. Bradenton Bch. Carpooling recommended.
