Vera Scott

Vera Estella Scott, 87, of Blairsville, Georgia, formerly of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on Oct. 29, 2012 at the Union General Hospital in Blairsville, GA. She was born on November 9, 1924 in Wayne, Ohio to the late William and Elizabeth (Van Horn) Dudgeon. She was the former manager of the Plantation Village Mobile Home Park in Bradenton. Her church memberships include the Bradenton Church of Christ in Bradenton, Florida, and the Murphy Church of Christ in Murphy, North Carolina. Vera was predeceased by her husband Derwin W. Scott in 1983, two brothers; Harley and Burleigh Dudgeon, and a three sisters, Sylvia Lancaster, Ilo Riley and Burl Barrington. She is survived by three daughters; Barbara and Gary Calvert of Smyrna, GA, Betty and Hugh Warwick of Sautee, GA, Linda Huntoon of Murphy, NC, one sister, Mary Lou Merrick of Bradenton, FL,four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. 

The family received friends on Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 7-9 P.M. at the Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton. Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel with committal services to follow at Manasota Memorial Park in Bradenton where she will be buried next to her late husband. The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to either the Bradenton Church of Christ or the Murphy Church of Christ in her memory.
