Lillian Kafka Bowman passed away on November 6, 2012 in Bay Village, Sarasota, Florida. She was born on December 31, 1927 in Houston, Texas and grew up in Forest Hills, Long Island, New York. She excelled in her studies and gymnastics and graduated with high honors from Forest Hills High School in June 1945. On December 15, 1951, she married John Thomas Bowman in Richmond Hill, New York and they celebrated 62 years of marriage. While vacationing in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1963, Lillian and John became so enamored with the history and natural environment of the area that they moved to Scottsdale that same year as permanent residents and later, in 1993, built a new home in Fountain Hills.

Prior to her retirement in 1997, Lillian enjoyed an active career in the business world for over 40 years as Administrative Assistant to CEOs in reputable and famous corporations. She was regarded highly for her skills, efficiency and winning personality, as well as her artistic and journalistic contributions. She was a perfectionist in all areas of her life!

During her leisure hours, Lillian enjoyed her home, her family, her little dogs and various sports activities (especially golf and women’s softball). She also enjoyed time on her home computer researching ancestry records, writing articles for various publications and creating original greeting cards for friends & relatives.

During her retirement years, not one to sit still for long, Lillian worked for nine years for Caldwell Banker in Fountain Hills, Arizona.

Lillian is survived by her twin sister Irene Kafka Letendre of Lighthouse Point, FL, two sons, Dan Bowman of Colorado Springs, CO, Ted Bowman of Hampton, VA plus five grandchildren: Janine Mothershed of Mesa, AZ, Sara McCurly of VA, Kati Bowman of Mesa, VA, Tyler and Justin Bowman both of Hampton VA, three great-grandchildren: Hayli, Karsyn and Liam as well as four beloved and devoted cousins: Ricky Kafka of Phoeniz, AZ, Catherine Kafka Oliver of Parrish, FL, Lee Kafka Chichester of Chester, MA, and Tomara Kafka of Sarasota, FL.
