Kent Dean (Bud) Barney 87, of Bradenton, FL went to be with The Lord on March 31, 2014 peacefully of natural causes. Kent was born on March 29, 1927 in Delhi New York the son of Ellery Robert Barney and Mahala Louise Beckley of Milford New York. Raised on the family farm in Milford New York where he gained a love for animals. Kent attended Cornell University after returning from Germany while serving in the US Army during WWII. Kent married Mary Cramp in Ocean City New Jersey on July 8, 1950.  
Kent had a long career in the food processing industry and retired from Alpo Pet Foods in 1988 having managed the Alpo manufacturing plant in Crete Nebraska. Kent was active at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and in the Lions Club while in Crete. Kent moved to Bradenton in 1988 after retirement to be with his lifelong friends Herb and Agatha Ludlam. He was an avid sports fan rooting on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Brooklyn Dodgers and played shortstop for the Milford MAC's semi-pro baseball team. Kent served The Lord singing in the choir and served as elder at Hope Lutheran Church in Bradenton.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary who died in 1999. Kent is survived by his wife, Natalie Teller who he married in May 23, 2001; sister, Mary Highland of Stone Ridge New York; son and daughter in law, Robert and Debra Barney of Midland Texas; granddaughter, Laura Barney of Midland Texas; grandson, Patrick Barney of Lincoln Nebraska; step daughter and step son, Elaine and Judah Chetrit of Connecticut; step son and step daughter, Marty and Darlene Teller of  Farmington New York; step son and step daughter, Stuart and Luanne Teller of Halifax Massachusetts; step son, Jeffrey Teller of Dallas Texas; nieces, step grand children and their step great grandchildren.
Kent loved his family and always had a good joke to tell.  There was often laughter and many stories told both new and old. He was a kind and loving husband and father that put family before his career. He loved music and was an accomplished violinist and was a gifted true tenor. He sang in church choirs all his life and most recently with a gospel quartet at his Waters Edge residence in Bradenton.

Funeral Information:

Services will be held at Hope Lutheran Church in Bradenton on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 11:00AM. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34207 is in charge of arrangements. The family requests donations to Tidewell Hospice, Inc., 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital PO Box 50, Memphis TN 38101-9929 In lieu of flowers.
