John Clifford Rogers, 91, went to his Eternal home on June 6, 2012.
He leaves behind his wife and soul-mate of 68 years, Betty of Bradenton, his son, Harold Rogers (Karen) of Jacksonville, daughters, Susan Bonn (Mike) of California, Donna Raymer of North Carolina, and six grandchildren.
John was born in Farmington, NH on June 2, 1921 to George and Irene Rogers. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a sister.
After completing high school, John joined the Navy where he served as Chief Pharmacist Mate. His 7 year stint included tours in both the Atlantic and the Pacific fleet during World War II, and brought him to Quebec, Canada, where he met and married the love of his life Betty Coutts in 1943.
After proudly serving his country John attended college at Indiana University where he received a BA Degree in Engineering. He worked for IBM as an engineer until he returned to school and received his MS degree at UCLA. Upon graduation, he began a career at AEROSPACE, where he was a member of the team assigned to the ''First Man on the Moon'' project, specifically, the First Step on the Moon.
John & Betty have been residents of Bradenton, FL for 30 years, where he worked and retired from Tropicana.
His patriotism, knowledgeable contributions, and his dedication to family will long be remembered, as well as that loving, mischevious smile he so freely gave.
