James Q. ''Jim'' Houston of Bradenton, FL passed into God's glorious house on May 27, 2012.  

 

Jim was born on March 1, 1919 to the late George & Cathryn (Anheuser) Houston.  He was a graduate of Elkville Community High School in 1936.  He played with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra for 3 yrs. and was a member of Masonic Lodge #4 in Springfield, IL for more than 50 years. He worked for a subsidiary of the First Tennessee Bank in St. Louis, MO where he was an area Vice President and retired after 30 years of service, moving to Bradenton, FL in 1979.  Upon retirement in FL, Jim worked at the Manatee County Golf course for 13 years.  He married Claudia M. McCluskey in 1943.  

 

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, 2 sons, Michael (Patricia) of Minneapolis, MN & Sarasota, FL, Dennis (Sharon) of Parrish, FL, one granddaughter, Kerry Houston of Minneapolis, MN, two sisters, Audrey Adams of Bradenton, FL and Margaret Ann Monroe of Pekin, IL, and one brother, Bob, of Springfield, IL.  Jim was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.  



Funeral Information:

A Celebration of Jim?s life will occur on Friday, June 1, 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church.  His final resting place will be at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton, FL.  

 

Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel in charge. In lieu of flowers, please send all memorial donations to New Hope Baptist Church, 9422 Old Tampa Rd., Parrish, FL  34219.
