Elizabeth ''Betsy'' Biro, 97, Bradenton, died November 29th, 2013. She was born April 5, 1916 in Tokyo, Japan and came to the Sarasota/Bradenton area in 1970 from Rockville Centre, NY. She graduated from the American School in Japan, Elmira College and did graduate work at Bank Street College of Education. She was a retired kindergarten teacher. She was the loving wife of George W. Biro, who died in 1990. Since coming to Florida, she has been active in Habitat for Humanity as a founding member in Sarasota County, later in Manatee County. She was a devoted member of Faith United Church of Christ. Survivors include daughters, Carol Elizabeth Unger of Gazipasa, Turkey and Barbara Willcox of Flower Mound, TX, brother, Dr. Henry D. Fisher of Willow Street, PA, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:30AM at Faith United Church of Christ, 4850, SR 64 East, Bradenton, FL 34208. Brown and Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209 is in charge.
