Eleanor Marion

Eleanor May Marion, 92 of Ellenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 08, 2012 at her residence in Ellenton. Eleanor was born on May 19, 1920 in Preble, New York to the late Clarence and Nellie (Smith) Rood. She worked in the local school cafeteria in Dryden, New York while her children were young, and later on as a receptionist for the George Junior Republic Union. Eleanor was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dryden. She was a winter resident of Manatee County since 1986 and moved here permanently in 1992. Locally she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bradenton and the Audubon Society of Manatee County, Florida. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Ivan of Ellenton, one son and his wife; James and Cheryl Marion of Grahamsville, New York, one daughter, Connie Rejman of Venice, New York, one brother and his wife; Robert and Martha Rood of Norwich, New York, two sisters and one brother-in-law; Elizabeth and Willis Marion of Freeville, New York, and Phyllis of New York, and three grandchildren, and many other extended family members and acquaintances both here in Florida and New York.

The family will hold services at the Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden, New York later this next week with interment to follow at the Willow Glen Cemetery in Dryden where she will be buried in the family plot. The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Dryden, New York in her memory.
