Edna J. Gallagher, “Nan”, 97, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011 at Blake Hospital in Bradenton. We were blessed to be her family and those who knew her over the years loved her. She was generous, thoughtful, loving and kind. Born in Atlantic City, NJ, she was raised in Philadelphia, PA. She worked for the Army Signal Corps during WWII as a purchasing agent. After the war, she, her husband and daughters moved to Newark, DE where she retired from the Chrysler Corporation as a secretary. In 1974 she and her husband moved to Long Boat Key, Fl. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, daughter, Barbara and grandson Baby Joe. Sister Rita and brothers Ed & Joe Kane, and her beloved grandson Patrick. Survivors include her daughter Rosemarie and her husband Jack Ryder with whom she resided. Grandson, Michael and great-granddaughter Jessica, grandson Bill and his wife Lisa and great-grandson, Jack. Granddaughter Kathy and great-granddaughter Melissa. Granddaughter, Joanna and her husband John, and great-granddaughter Breanna. Nephews; Charles and Steve Kane, Sisters-in-law, Olwyn Kane and Doris Shellenberger, and other relatives including her cousin, Sister Eileen Side.
Funeral Information:
Services at the request of the family will be private, with arrangements for Edna to be interred at Ss. Peter & Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN in her memory. Condolences for the family may be made online at www.shannonfuneralhomes.com.
