Obituary:

Doris Elise (Trudeau) Quadland, daughter of Ernest and Elise Trudeau of North Adams, Massachusetts, died on February 11, 2014 in Bradenton, Florida. She was 97.  Mrs. Quadland was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Marten Warren (Bud) Quadland who died in 2007. Born and raised in North Adams, Mrs. Quadland worked as a young woman in the mayor’s office. After her marriage, she worked for the Kelley Publishing Company in New York City. She and her husband built the Berkshire Hills Motel in Williamstown, Massachusetts in 1953, which they owned and managed for over ten years. They also owned and operated Spindrift, a resort hotel on the coast of New Hampshire. Later in life, the couple built and operated Quadlands of Vermont, a gift shop in Pownel. She is survived by two sons, Marten W. Quadland of Jackson Hole, WY and Sarasota, FL, and Michael C. Quadland of Litchfield, CT, and Palm Beach, FL. Four grandchildren survive, Kara Quadland Helms of Winston-Salem, NC, Kristen Quadland Egbert of Sag Harbor, NY, Marten W. Quadland III of Winston-Salem, NC, and Sarah Quadland Thabault of Washington, DC., and six great grandchildren, Madeline and Hudson Helms, Emma-Scott and Nicholas Egbert, and Warren and Katherine Quadland. Throughout her life, Mrs. Quadland was close to her eight brothers and sisters. The late Ernest Trudeau, Jeanette Trudeau Noel, Bernard Trudeau and Terese Trudeau de Lisser. She is survived by George Trudeau, Jacqueline Trudeau Fox, Clement Trudeau and Madeline Trudeau Gibson.



Funeral Information:

Services will be at a later date. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Notre Dame Church in North Adams. Condolences may be made to www.brownandsonsfuneral.com.
