Obituary:

A.C. "Al" Snyder, 98 of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Blake Medical Center in Bradenton. Mr. Snyder was born on December 24, 1911 in Tippecanoe, Indiana to the late Ross L. & Vivian (Rohrabaugh) Snyder.

 

He was attended the elementary school in Tippecanoe and Walnut Township, Indiana and was a graduate of the Class of 1930 of Argos High School in Argos, Indiana. He started working for the United State Post Office as a mail carrier in 1937 and retired in 1967 with thirty years of service to the Argos Community during this time he also owned and operated his own farm in the community.

 

In 1991 he was the recipient of the Hall of Fame Award from the Argos High School Alumni Association for his outstanding service with the Post Office. During his career he made sure that the mail was delivered in all kinds of bad weather, especially during the war years when servicemen were sending letters and packages back home to their families.

 

While living in Argos he was a member of the Argos United Methodist Church and the Argos Lions Club. Locally in Florida he was a member and served as the Club Treasurer for the Bradenton Shuffleboard Court, and attended the Palmetto Presbyterian Church in Palmetto.

 

Mr. Snyder was predeceased by his three sisters, Marjorie Holm, Babe Long, Gladys Chenoweth, two great-grandsons; Jonathon Van Vactor and Dustin Howell and is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Mildred B. Snyder of Bradenton, son and his wife, Marvin and Nyla Snyder of Argos, IN, daughter and her husband, Jo Allyson and Richard Schaden of Tallahassee, FL, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.



Funeral Information:

A visitation was held locally in Bradenton on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 from 6-8 P.M. at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th Street West, Bradenton. Following the visitation he was transferred to the Good Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th Str., Rochester, IN for visitation and services next week in Argos, IN.

 

Interment will take place at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Argos, Indiana.
