State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota Women's Head Volleyball Coach Carmine Garofalo has announced his plans to retire from coaching. Under Garofalo's three-year leadership as head coach of the SCF Manatees Volleyball team, the team has achieved an overall record of 71-32, claimed the 2010 Suncoast Conference Championship and qualified for the state tournament for two seasons. For his team's achievements, Garofalo also was named 2010 Suncoast Conference Coach of the Year.

The Marauders had a quiet offensive night Monday at McKechnie Field, falling 6-1 against the Brevard County Manatees. Dan Gamache gave the Marauders a 1-0 lead with an RBI-single in the second to score Jose Osuna, but Bradenton managed just two hits over the next seven innings.

Nick Kingham set a new Marauders’ franchise record by striking out 13 Brevard County Manatees in a 4-1 Marauders win. Kingham accomplished the feat in six scoreless innings, yielding only three singles, and no walks. Kingham started the game with three swinging strikeouts in the first inning. He surrendered back-to-back singles in the second inning, but with two on and nobody out he got a fly out from Yadiel Rivera, then struck out two more Manatees. He proceeded to strike out two batters in each inning before being lifted after six. Of the 13 strikeouts, 10 were swinging and three were looking.

The Bradenton Marauders used a six-run seventh inning to break open a 2-1 game against the Mets at Tradition Field Thursday night, rolling to a 9-1 win to open the three game series. Gregory Polanco went 2-for-4 with two doubles and drove in four runs.

The Bradenton Marauders saw their four-game winning streak go quietly into the night on Tuesday at McKechnie Field. Jupiter blanked the Marauders 3-0 on only five hits. Bradenton was looking for a sweep after opening the series with a 4-3 win on Sunday and then besting the Hammerheads 5-3 at McKechnie on Monday night. The club was off Wednesday and will resume play tonight at St. Lucie.

The Bradenton Marauders rallied from a three-run deficit for the third straight day, plating four runs in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Jupiter Hammerheads 4-3 on Sunday at McKechnie Field. The Marauders and Hammerheads square off again tonight at McKechnie Field. Nick Kingham will be on the mound for Bradenton against Josh Hodges for Jupiter. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.

The Bradenton Marauders (3-12) scored in five straight innings to rally for a 6-5 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals (9-6) on Friday night at McKechnie Field. Alen Hanson tripled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth after committing two errors in the top of the ninth that helped Palm Beach tie the score.

Tampa Bay midfielder Raphael Cox has been rewarded for his midfield display as the Rowdies took an early lead in the North American Soccer League standings by winning the NASL Player of the Week award. Cox said, "It's an honor to be selected for my first POW award. Our team has been putting in a lot of hard work and it’s great to see it pay off."

The Bradenton Marauders got their first win of the season Saturday night, besting the St. Lucie Mets 4-3. However, the victory was sandwiched by two defeats as Frank Kremblas tries to get his new team to gel after getting off to an 0-8 start. Sloppy defense and poor fundamentals spoiled what started off as a close game Sunday, in a contest the Mets eventually went on to win 8-2, aided by three Bradenton errors.

The Bradenton Marauders are off to a sluggish start, dropping their first five games, while giving up 33 runs. The team, a High-A Minor League affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, has a relatively young and less-experienced squad after advancing several key players deeper into the organization. The club is back at McKechnie for a three-game series with the Mets this weekend with several promotions on tap, including Friday's Pier 22 Happy Hour, as well as a Saturday night concert featuring Tampa-based rockers, Pitbull Toddler.
