On Friday, the Manatee Hurricanes will host a neutral playoff game against the Vero Beach Indians. The Palmetto Tigers' season ended with last week's loss to East Lake, who will visit the Braden River Pirates for a neutral game.

Earlier this week, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced the team’s 2015 Spring Training schedule and ticket pricing for games at McKechnie Field in Bradenton, Florida, the southern home of the Pirates since 1969. The 33-game Florida schedule consists of 15 home games and features the intrasquad “Black and Gold” benefit game on Monday, March 2.

It's the first week of Florida high school football's 2014 playoffs. On Friday, the Manatee Hurricanes will host Fort Pierce's Central Cobras, and the Braden River Pirates will take on the Pinellas Park Patriots at home. The Palmetto Tigers will travel to Tarpon Springs to play against the East Lake Eagles, and on Thursday, Saint Stephens Episcopal will have a neutral conference game with a to-be-announced opponent.

The SCF Manatees Volleyball team is headed to the National Junior College Athletic Association 2014 Division I Volleyball National Championship this month. The team placed second in the state, losing to Miami Dade College in Saturday's finals, after defeating Gulf Coast State College in three games Friday night at the NJCAA Region 8/ Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) State Tournament in Jacksonville.

It's the last week of Florida high school football's regular season. The Braden River Pirates will host the DeSoto County Bulldogs. The Manatee Hurricanes will travel to Venice to face the Indians, and the Palmetto Tigers will host the Southeast Seminoles. Bradenton Christian finished their season last week as they did not have a bye week previously.

The Tampa Bay Rowdies closed out the 2014 with a wild couple of minutes at Al Lang Stadium. Goals in the 88th and 89th minutes, first by the Indy Eleven and then the Rowdies, saw the season end with a 2-2 draw in front of 6,377 fans on a chilly night in St. Petersburg.

The National Junior College Athletic Association  has named SCF's Maja Ristić as the national Division 1 women's volleyball player of the week. During the voting period Ristić posted an impressive performance highlighted by 6.5 kills/set, 3.8 digs/set, and .90 blocks per set. The Manatees have won 18 straight matches and captured the the Suncoast Conference Championship. The team is headed to the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 8/Florida College System Activities Association State Tournament in Jacksonville Nov. 6-8.

The Tampa Bay Rowdies and New York Cosmos played to an entertaining 2-2 draw at James M. Shuart Stadium on Saturday night. Rowdies midfielder Evans Frimpong scored a brace, including a 90th minute equalizer that made it 2-2.
