Bradenton's Danny Anderson survived a late scare to take Saturday night's crash-marred 50-lap main event for the Joey Coulter Florida Pro Truck Series at Desoto Speedway. Anderson looked to be cruising to an easy win until the caution flew for Lau's flat tire with five laps to go. Immediately after taking the caution Lau made accidental contact with Anderson, but Anderson was able to continue with minor damage and would keep the lead on the final restart and go on to hist first win of the year at Desoto Speedway.

The Daytona Cubs (51-54, 25-12) walked off as 6-4 winners over the Marauders (57-49, 22-15) on Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Kyle Schwarber, the fourth overall selection in the 2014 draft, homered off Ryan Hafner (L, 1-4) to end the game

Palmetto native Alexis Love hopes to compete in the next Olympic Games. After qualifying for the Olympic Trials and then the semi-finals in 2012, Love missed the cut for the London games by only fractions of a second. The world class sprinter is determined to ensure that she makes it to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for 2016 and has started a fundraiser through the athlete crowd funding platform Dreamfuel to raise money for her Olympic-sized goals.

The Marauders (57-48, 22-14) were blanked 7-0 by the Daytona Cubs in a series opening defeat on Monday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The Cubs broke the game open by capitalizing on a one-out error in the second to plate four unearned runs against Jason Creasy (L, 6-6).

The Flying Tigers (51-51, 9-26) erased a 2-0 deficit in the middle innings and defeated the Marauders (57-47, 22-13) 5-3 on Sunday afternoon at Joker Marchant Stadium. Jose Osuna had a big day at the plate in defeat, going 4-for-4 with three doubles, one run scored, and one driven in.

The Marauders (57-46, 22-12) are now just one game out of first place after defeating the Flying Tigers (50-51, 8-26) 5-1 on Saturday Night at Joker Marchant Stadium. The Marauders turned four double plays defensively to quell numerous potential Lakeland rallies.

The Marauders (56-46, 21-12) climbed to within 1.5 games of first place with a 6-2 win over the Flying Tigers (50-50, 8-25) on Friday night at Joker Marchant Stadium. Chad Kuhl (W, 11-5) matched Nathan Adcock for the most wins in a single season by a Marauder, tossing five innings and striking out three while allowing two runs.

The Lakeland Flying Tigers (50-49, 8-24) rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and fended off three potential Bradenton Marauders (20-12, 55-46) to take Thursday’s series opener 4-3 at Joker Marchant Stadium. Shane Carle (L, 1-2) pitched seven innings and struck out five without issuing a walk for the Marauders. He allowed four runs, three of which were earned.

The Marauders (55-45, 20-11) blanked the Dunedin Blue Jays (61-41, 15-18) for the second straight day, posting a 4-0 win at McKechnie Field on Wednesday morning. Jason Creasy (W, 6-5) fired a career best 7 2/3 innings, scattering seven hits and one walk while striking out three. The walk was the first free pass issued by Creasy since June 11.

At Monday night's Palmetto City Commission meeting, the room was crowded with red shirts. It was a show of support for the Palmetto Little League's 10-11 year old softball team, who were being recognized for their undefeated state championship season. Next stop: Hedgesville, WV, where the sluggers will vie for the national crown.
