The Marauders dropped the first game of the Florida State League South Division Series on Tuesday night at McKechnie Field 8-7 against the Fort Myers Miracle. The Marauders scored seven runs in the bottom of the second inning but did not score against as the Miracle rallied for the final five runs of the game. The Marauders must beat the Miracle on Wednesday in Fort Myers to extend the series to a decisive third game.

Among the games this Friday: St. Stephen's Episcopal Falcons will travel to Seffner Christian after shutting out Bishop McLaughlin Catholic by 42 points last week. On the heels of a 23-7 stunner that featured a late-game comeback win by Ware County, the Manatee Hurricanes will play their home opener against Sanford's Seminole High. The Palmetto Tigers will host St. Pete's Lakewood Spartans after losing 46-44 to Venice in their first game.

The Marauders clinched the South Division second half championship for the third time in four years with a 3-2 win over the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Sunday morning at McKechnie Field. Chad Kuhl (W, 13-5) set a new franchise mark for wins in a season with 5 1/3 strong innings.

Saturday’s regularly scheduled game between the Bradenton Marauders and the Charlotte Stone Crabs was postponed due to persistent rainfall. The game will be made up as a doubleheader consisting of two seven inning games today.

Friday's Marauders game at Charlotte Sports Park was suspended in the top of the third inning with the score tied 0-0. The game will resume at McKechnie Field tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. Gates will open at 3:30 p.m. The game will be completed through nine innings.

Joe Kinnan

The Manatee County School District announced Thursday that former Manatee High School football coach and Athletic Director Joe Kinnan has submitted his request to retire from his current teaching position at Manatee High School. Mr. Kinnan personally delivered the request to district headquarters yesterday morning, two days after none of the three candidates he backed in school board races were able to secure victories.

The Marauders (40-27) moved back into sole possession of first place with three games left to play by rallying for three runs in the top of the ninth to stun the Charlotte Stone Crabs (32-31) 5-3 on Thursday night at Charlotte Sports Park. Justin Howard celebrated his 27th birthday in style, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, finishing a home run shy of the cycle.

The Florida State League has recognized 2014 Marauders outfielder Josh Bell and starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow with the highest honors available to each. Bell has been named the Florida State League Player of the Year, while Glasnow has been recognized as the Pitcher of the Year. Additionally, Marauders Manager Tom Prince was recognized as one of the top three Managers in the League.
