The National Junior College Athletic Association  has named SCF's Maja Ristić as the national Division 1 women's volleyball player of the week. During the voting period Ristić posted an impressive performance highlighted by 6.5 kills/set, 3.8 digs/set, and .90 blocks per set. The Manatees have won 18 straight matches and captured the the Suncoast Conference Championship. The team is headed to the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 8/Florida College System Activities Association State Tournament in Jacksonville Nov. 6-8.

The Tampa Bay Rowdies and New York Cosmos played to an entertaining 2-2 draw at James M. Shuart Stadium on Saturday night. Rowdies midfielder Evans Frimpong scored a brace, including a 90th minute equalizer that made it 2-2.

The Tampa Bay Rowdies and FC Edmonton split the points at Al Lang Stadium on Saturday night with a 1-1 draw. Chad Burt scored for Edmonton in the 43rd minute to give the Eddies a road lead. Neil Hlavaty’s initial shot was saved by Rowdies goalkeeper Matt Pickens, but the rebound bounced directly to Burt, who kicked it home from about 10 yards out to give the Eddies a lead just before halftime. Georgi Hristov equalized from the penalty spot in the 68th minute to break a 268 minute scoreless streak.

The Bradenton Marauders, the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, will play its first 2015 home game on Saturday, April 11, at McKechnie Field. The Marauders open the season on the road for the third consecutive year, kicking off the Florida State League schedule onThursday, April 9, at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie. The Marauders face the St. Lucie Mets (New York Mets) in both the season opener and the home opener.

The Tampa Bay Rowdies announced Wednesday the signing of forward Corey Hertzog on a deal through the 2015 season, with a club option for 2016. Per club and league policy, further contract details were not disclosed. Hertzog, 24, spent 2014 with Orlando City SC, netting four goals in 21 league appearances. Hertzog scored against the Rowdies in the second leg of the I-4 Derby and in the third round U.S. Open Cup match between the sides.
